FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) AM I REGISTERED TO VOTE IN HAYS COUNTY?

2) HOW DO I REGISTER TO VOTE IN HAYS COUNTY?
There are several ways to obtain a voter registration form:

IMPORTANT- Texas does not have online registration. You must print the form, fill it out, sign it, and mail it to:

Or hand deliver the form to:

- Request the form from the county voter registrar (512-393-7310) or from a volunteer deputy registrar.
- Most post offices and libraries have forms on hand.
The deadline to register to vote is October 7, 2024.
3) WHAT ARE MY PRECINCTS/DISTRICTS?
It depends on where you live. You can find your precincts/districts:
- Listed on your voter registration certificate; or
- Go to vote411.org Click on “Find What’s on Your Ballot.” Enter your address then click on “Show Districts.”

4) WHO ARE THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES ON MY BALLOT?

5) Where and when can I vote in Hays County?
The Hays County Elections Office has released a voting location guide here
6) Can I vote by mail?
Registered voters in Texas are eligible to request and receive a ballot by mail if any of the following criteria apply to the voter:
- 65 years of age or older;
- Disability;
- Expected to give birth within three (3) weeks before or after Election Day;
- Expected absence from the county during both the early voting period and on election day. The ballot must be mailed to an address outside the county.
- Under this criterion, the voter may apply for one (1) election and its resulting run-off;
- Confinement in jail (not yet convicted) or involuntary civil commitment.
To receive a ballot by mail you must first submit an application. The application form can be found at hayscountytx.com/elections or at HaysDems.org/VBM. Your application form must be received by Friday, October 25, 2024
7) What are the important dates and deadlines?

If the carrier envelope is postmarked by 7:00pm on Election Day, your ballot must be received by 5:00pm on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2024 |

8) What identification do I need to show when I go to the polls?
VOTER ID REQUIREMENTS (one of the following):
- TX DRIVERS LICENSE
- TX PERSONAL ID CARD
- TX ELECTION ID CERTIFICATE
- TX HANDGUN LICENSE
- US MILITARY PHOTO ID CARD
- US CITIZENSHIP CERTIFICATE WITH A PHOTO
- US PASSPORT
Note: ID may be expired up to 4 years. For voters 70 years or older, there is no limit on ID expiration
9) What can I do to help Get Out The Vote?
- Follow KBAD on Facebook to find information about GOTV events in our area.
- Go to kylebudadems.com/meetings-events. Our website will have links to sign up for various GOTV events.
- Go to HaysDems.org/hays-county-dems-mobilize-events/ The Hays County Democratic Party website posts information about events all around the area
- Want to help your favorite candidate? Go to that candidate’s website (See question #4 – Who Are The Democratic Candidates On My Ballot?) and sign up to volunteer.
- Not sure what you can do? There are so many ways to help:
- Volunteer to be the precinct chair in your area. The following precincts in Kyle and Buda are vacant:
- Kyle: 125, 128, 136, 205, 216, 225, 253, 319, 325, 340, 375, 425
- Buda: 422, 423
- Blockwalk (This is the most effective way to get people to vote.)
- Not able to walk? We always need drivers to take blockwalkers from house to house.
- Phone Bank
- Put up a sign in your yard
- Talk to your friends, family and neighbors to urge them to put a sign in their yard
- Help candidates put up their large campaign signs
- Write postcards and letters
- Post and share messages on social media
- Donate money to specific candidates
