1. Tell us about your background, including your education, employment, leadership experience, and community involvement relevant to the position.

I am a public servant with more than 20 years of professional experience in local government, and I hold a B.S. in Public Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. My work has included training and development, health and environmental compliance, public safety and emergency management, community relations, and municipal budget management. I have worked alongside residents, businesses, community organizations, and public servants to solve complex problems and deliver critical community services. My experience on advisory committees, non-profit boards, and local commissions has taught me how decisions about policy, resources, contracts, and services affect people every day.

 

2. Imagine it’s 2030—you are wrapping up your three-year term as mayor/city council member. You feel you successfully achieved your priorities. What does Kyle look like? What has changed? What has stayed the same?

 By 2030, Kyle's roads and utilities should be right-sized and serve our community for generations; public safety resources should be commensurate with a city of our size; historic preservation should be prioritized; and open and public spaces should be maintained. What hasn't changed is the character that drew families to Kyle: opportunity, safe neighborhoods, and a deep sense of community.

 

3. The City of Kyle went into 2026 with a $14 million budget deficit. What is your budgeting mindset when it comes to city finances?

 A city budget should be balanced and should outline a clear strategy that supports the services residents depend on, and that can be responsibly sustained. Kyle needs disciplined budgeting, transparent assumptions, and accountability for major investments. Growth cannot be an excuse for unchecked spending or withdrawal of unrestricted reserve funds. I would collaborate with peers and professional staff to establish a decision-making framework to ensure projects are completed efficiently and responsibly.

 

4. Texas law requires local law enforcement to cooperate with federal ICE officers. City government can limit the extent of that cooperation. Please explain where you believe appropriate limits should be.

 Local government should follow state and federal law while keeping its focus on its core responsibility: public safety. I support clear policies defining what local resources can and cannot be used for, consistent with the cooperation requirements tied to state funding and applicable law. Done right, this keeps our department focused, maintains residents' trust, and sustains a respected enforcement community.

 

5. Do you support the use of surveillance cameras like Flock in your city? Why or why not?

I support technology that demonstrably improves public safety. It should come with a clear purpose, access controls, retention requirements, oversight, costs, and measurable public-safety outcomes. Residents deserve to know how the technology is being used and what safeguards protect their information. Good policy should represent responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and strengthen public trust.

 

6. How will you ensure that underserved areas and populations receive the services they need?

Start with data and listen to residents. For over 20 years, I have evaluated service levels across neighborhoods, identified gaps, and prioritized resources based on recognized community needs. I also believe residents should have meaningful opportunities to communicate directly with staff and Council. A government that is accountable to everyone should be able to explain where services are lacking and what it is doing to address them.

 

7. Kyle City Council recently approved a series of forensic audits. Kyle already performs annual audits to ensure council and staff are following all applicable rules. Do you support conducting these additional forensic audits?

 Yes, when there is a legitimate question that warrants additional examination. An annual financial audit and a forensic audit serve different purposes, and the city should use the appropriate tool when concerns arise. I support reviewing the scope, cost, purpose, and findings of these audits with the goal of identifying and improving internal processes. At the end of the day, it is about being willing to examine the facts and hold the process accountable, which ultimately protects taxpayer resources.

 

8. Do you support a City of Kyle Pride Celebration?

I support every citizen's constitutional right to assemble and organize events. My expectation is that any city-sponsored event should have a clear public purpose and follow the same standards applied to other community events. Local government should create opportunities for community connection without making participation dependent on political agreement.
