1. Tell us about your background, including your education, employment, leadership experience, and community involvement relevant to the position.

My background combines military leadership, business ownership, education, and community involvement. I have owned and operated businesses, giving me firsthand experience with budgeting, management, hiring, problem-solving, and the responsibility that comes with making decisions that affect employees, customers, and the community. My military experience also provided me with valuable leadership experience, teaching me accountability, discipline, teamwork, communication, and how to make difficult decisions under pressure. Those lessons continue to influence how I approach leadership today.

I hold a degree in Music and am nearing completion of a second degree in Psychology. My education has strengthened my communication skills and my understanding of people, relationships, and different perspectives. In the Kyle community, I have served as an HOA President, representing residents and overseeing community concerns and operations. Running for Mayor has further deepened my involvement and understanding of Kyle’s challenges. I believe this combination of experience has prepared me to lead with integrity, accountability, common sense, and a commitment to serving Kyle residents.

2. Imagine it’s 2030—you are wrapping up your three-year term as mayor/city council member. You feel you successfully achieved your priorities. What does Kyle look like? What has changed? What has stayed the same?

By 2030, I want Kyle to be a city that has grown, but has grown responsibly. We would have the infrastructure, roads, public safety resources, and city services necessary to support the community we have become. I want residents to feel that City Hall listens to them, communicates honestly, and spends their tax dollars responsibly. Development is still happening, but it is being managed thoughtfully, with residents having a meaningful voice in how their neighborhoods and community evolve.

I want Kyle to have a reputation for professional, accountable leadership where elected officials can disagree without turning disagreements into personal attacks. We have stronger relationships between residents, businesses, city staff, and elected officials. Most importantly, I don't want Kyle to lose what brought many of us here in the first place: our sense of community. We will be a larger and more developed city, but we will still be a place where neighbors know one another, families feel welcome, and people are proud to call Kyle home.

 

3. The City of Kyle went into 2026 with a $14 million budget deficit. What is your budgeting mindset when it comes to city finances?

My budgeting mindset is simple: we have to live within our means, prioritize essential services, and treat taxpayer dollars like our own money. A $14 million deficit is serious, and fixing it will require difficult decisions, honest conversations, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. I would prioritize public safety, infrastructure, basic city services, and responsible maintenance while carefully evaluating every program and expenditure. Before asking residents for additional revenue, I believe the city must demonstrate that we have done everything possible to eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and prioritize spending.

I also believe budgeting cannot be done one year at a time. We need realistic long-term financial planning that accounts for the costs of growth, staffing, infrastructure, and future obligations. Most importantly, residents deserve transparency. They should understand where their money is going, why decisions are being made, and what those decisions mean for Kyle's future.

 

4. The cost of water utilities in Kyle are going up and residents are concerned about the long term sustainability of our water. How can the city ensure that we have a secure water supply for the long term future of Kyle?

I believe Kyle should follow Texas law and cooperate with federal authorities as required. At the same time, the city should be clear about the limits of that cooperation and ensure our local resources are focused on protecting Kyle residents and enforcing state and local laws. Local law enforcement should not be used as a substitute for federal immigration enforcement beyond what the law requires. We should have clear policies defining what assistance is legally required, what is discretionary, and how city resources are used. Any cooperation should also be handled professionally and without discrimination. My priority as Mayor would be to ensure Kyle follows the law, respects constitutional rights, maintains public trust, and keeps our police officers focused on their primary responsibility: keeping our community safe.

 

5. Texas law requires local law enforcement to cooperate with federal ICE officers. City government can limit the extent of that cooperation. Please explain where you believe appropriate limits should be.

Immigration enforcement is not the city’s role; it is the responsibility of the federal government.

I believe anyone who commits a crime should be held accountable, regardless of immigration status. At the same time, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. As a Hispanic American (Tejano) who has spent many years around construction sites, I understand the fear that immigration enforcement can create, including for people who are law-abiding members of our community.

Our city should focus on public safety, follow the law, and never target anyone based on race or ethnicity.

 

6. Do you support the use of surveillance cameras like Flock in your city? Why or why not?

Yes, I support the responsible use of surveillance cameras such as Flock as a tool to help protect Kyle residents and assist law enforcement in preventing and solving crimes. However, support for the technology must come with strong safeguards. Residents should have clear protections regarding how data is collected, stored, accessed, and shared. Access should be limited to legitimate law enforcement purposes, with clear policies, accountability, oversight, and consequences for misuse. I believe technology can make our community safer, but public safety should never come at the expense of residents’ reasonable expectation of privacy. If a vendor cannot provide the necessary safeguards and accountability, then we should be willing to reconsider the contract or find a provider that can.

 

7. How will you ensure that underserved areas and populations receive the services they need?

The first step is making sure we are actually listening to the people who are being underserved. City governments should not make decisions based solely on statistics or assumptions. We need to engage directly with neighborhoods and residents and understand where the gaps exist. I would support regularly reviewing city services, infrastructure, roads, parks, public safety, and other resources to ensure they are being distributed based on need rather than simply on which areas have the loudest voices. I also believe accessibility matters. Residents should have meaningful opportunities to communicate with City Hall, regardless of their neighborhood, income, age, or circumstances. As Mayor, I would expect city staff and council to identify service gaps, establish measurable priorities, and follow through. Every resident who calls Kyle home deserves to feel heard, respected, and served by their city government.

 

8. Kyle City Council recently approved a series of forensic audits. Kyle already performs annual audits to ensure council and staff are following all applicable rules. Do you support conducting these additional forensic audits?

Yes. I support the additional forensic audits. While annual audits are important for ensuring compliance, a forensic audit serves a different purpose and can provide a deeper examination of financial activity, processes, and potential areas of concern. Given Kyle’s current financial challenges, residents deserve confidence that every dollar is being properly managed. I believe transparency and accountability are especially important when difficult budget decisions are being made. These audits should be conducted independently and objectively, without a predetermined outcome. If they identify problems, we should address them openly and make the necessary changes. If they confirm that processes are working properly, that information is equally valuable. Ultimately, I view the cost of these audits as an investment in restoring public confidence and ensuring we have accurate information on which to base future financial decisions.

 

9. Do you support a City of Kyle Pride Celebration?

Yes, I support a Pride celebration in Kyle and believe members of the LGBTQ+ community should feel welcome, respected, and included in our city. I also believe residents should be free to organize and participate in events that celebrate their communities. However, I do not believe the City should use taxpayer dollars to fund or sponsor exclusive events based on a particular group or identity. I believe the same standard should apply consistently to all community organizations and events. The City can support community events by providing reasonable access to public spaces and following the same policies and procedures available to other groups, while allowing private organizations, sponsors, and participants to fund the event itself. My goal is to treat everyone fairly, protect individual rights, and be responsible with taxpayer dollars.
