KBAD seeks volunteers for 2021

Lead by Example with KBAD

In Kyle/Buda-Area Democrats, we believe that politics is about more than just having good intentions.

It’s more than just voting. It’s more than signing petitions or attending rallies. In KBAD, we believe in building an organization dedicated to implementing a long-term vision for our community. We believe in getting to know and helping our neighbors, whose votes we need to solve hard problems.

We are guided by the work of professor Eitan Hersh, author of Politics is for Power: How to Move Beyond Political Hobbyism, Take Action and Make Real Change. In this book, he advocates for accumulating power so that when there are opportunities to make a difference — to lobby, to advocate, to mobilize — we will be ready.

In KBAD, we are working to channel our energy away from political hobbyism and toward building power to make a difference in the causes we believe in. The back cover of Hersh’s book sums it up nicely when he says that such actions require “organized effort, commitment over the long haul and a willingness to accept some failures along the way to achieving success.”

We invite you to become a part of this effort and show how we lead by example.

Even if you can just give a few hours a week, we want to hear about it by filling out this form.
