Primary Endorsement Procedures

In early 2026 KBAD will host a candidate forum for all Democrats running in partisan county level races, including precinct level races. Following the forum dues paying KBAD members will vote in an online secret ballot through Election Buddy to endorse candidates in each race.

1) A vote of 60% or more of dues paying members who vote in the election will be required for an endorsement. If there are more than 2 candidates in a race and none reach 60% a runoff will be held between the top 2 candidates. A vote of 60% or more will be required for an endorsement in a runoff. If no candidate receives 60% or more of the vote there will not be an endorsement in that race. Candidates receiving over 60% of the vote will be immediately endorsed by KBAD. Margins of results will not be published.

2) Voting will be open for one week following the candidate forum. Runoff voting, if needed, will be open for three days following the initial voting period.

3) Candidates must respond to the annual KBAD written candidate questionnaire in order to attend the forum.

4) Topic areas, but not specific questions, will be shared with candidates ahead of the forum. One written question from the audience will be asked in each race. Audience questions may or may not come from disclosed topic areas.

5) Candidates endorsed by KBAD will have their endorsement announced by the club and will be free to self-promote their endorsement using the KBAD logo. KBAD will share member contact information with endorsed candidates for soliciting volunteers, donations, and turning out the vote.
